Introducing our new BID Manager

We are pleased to announce that Michael Wray, One Chelmsford’s new BID Manager is joining the BID on 1st June to lead on the delivery of our five-year plan.

Mike, will be leaving Chelmsford City Council, where he has facilitated events, organised sponsorship and liaised with city centre businesses. ‘Taking on this new challenge with One Chelmsford will give me the opportunity to make a big difference to the city centre that I have worked for for a number of years. I’m excited to be able to work with businesses in a wholly new way to deliver on their ambitions’ said Mike.

Mike will bring to the BID his extensive knowledge of Chelmsford City Centre and a working relationship with partners, to help get projects moving promptly. Already, the BID is supporting a new Arts and Culture Festival in June and has started exploring better uses and lighting of the rivers. Mike’s first challenge will be to shape and deliver early projects while building his team and involving businesses in the process.

One Chelmsford began its recruitment process before the ballot ended in February, in order to ensure minimal delay in the start date of a new manager. Mike has been helping the interim board of directors get everything necessary set up in the background, such as incorporation and a bank account, and his start will add fresh momentum.

He will, to begin with, be based in office space offered by Aquila Holdings on Townfield Street until a more permanent location is found.

The council are recruiting for Mike’s replacement and will ensure there remains a strong liaison point between the BID and the Council.

Opportunities to meet Mike will be announced in due course.
