The latest Covid-19 data available shows a decline in both case and positivity rate in every district of Essex. The all-Essex average case rate per 100,000 has declined significantly, however, at just under 300 (295.4) it remains high.

In the seven days to 21 January there were 4,400 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Essex.

As at 28 January, the highest weekly case rates were in Harlow (370.8) and Tendring (392.2). The lowest weekly case rate was in Brentwood with a rate of 193.5 per 100,000.

Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, Cllr John Spence, said: “I am pleased to see a continued reduction in case rates across the county, and hope that they continue to fall. However, at almost 300, we aren’t out of the woods yet, we must not be complacent. It is absolutely vital that everyone continues to adhere to the guidance, remember to follow the rules of hand, face, space, work from home if possible, and always socially distance.”
